Registered For My First 5K

I am now at the point in my couch to 5K program where it appears I no longer get any walking breaks.  I ran last Sunday for 25 minutes straight and while I was worried about doing it, I ended up having a relatively easy time with it.  So this week I started week 7 (yes, only week 7 even though it feels like I've been doing this forever, I only did begin training in late July) and each day is a 25 minute run.  Let's just say that it did not go well when I ran on Wednesday.  It didn't go well at all and for the first time the voice coming from the IPod did not say to walk and yet I walked.  I walked for about 4-5 minutes until he announced 1 minute left and then I finished strong.

So, I'm not feeling that confident about this running thing.  It seems that it's taken 7 weeks but I've hit that wall that I always hit when I try to run where it gets tough and I'm done.  But then, just when I needed some inspiration an email went out at work about a Safe Passage 5K in Cumberland that Martin's Point is a sponsor of.  For an $18 registration fee I get some much needed motivation and a t-shirt!

So, I'll be out there again this afternoon running my 25 minutes and thinking  that if I don't want to collapse on race day, September 25th, I had better get it together quick!

  1. Wow, a race. That's fantastic. Do we get to come cheer you on at the finish line?
