Things I'm Loving Right Now

Lou is  not always the friendliest cat.  He is definitely a one person cat.  He needs one to love, snuggle, boss around and beg food from.  Everyone else he does his best to ignore but he isn't beyond biting or hissing if someone gets in his space and annoys him.  Let's just say that he hasn't always been the nicest to my parents.  They adore him and would do anything for him but he just doesn't have a feline ability to reciprocate.  But look what happened yesterday:

Put us in any situation and we will have fun.  Put us in a casino with free food, free slot play, and free drinks and it's a no brainer!

A co-worker has a daughter with fickle clothing tastes.  She has very nice and slightly expensive taste (by my standards anyway).  Sometimes she brings in cast off clothing and it makes its way around the office.  The clothing is in impeccable condition and always a treat to see.  Today I scored two pairs of Ann Taylor Loft dress pants that appear never or seldom worn.  They actually still have the security tags on the inside.  They fit perfectly although the tan pair will need to be hemmed about 1/2 an inch.

It's no secret that I adore Kris Carr.  She's coming out with a new cookbook and as a promo she did a video about a day in the life of what she eats called A Peek At My Plate.  She mentions having "tuna" salad wraps for lunch.  I am grocery shopping tomorrow and trying this out immediately!

Walk To The Water

Thursday afternoon I was off of work and wanted to do something active.  I thought about doing a big hike someplace filled with beautiful fall foliage.  However, it really didn't appeal to me to drive a solid two hours so I decided to stay closer to home.

I have walked to Bug Light in South Portland a couple of times before and decided that it might be the perfect day for it.  It is a long walk of at least 6.5 miles round trip.  It starts by leaving my house and walking a mile across the Casco Bay Bridge.  After a short spell of walking in a commercial area you arrive at Mill Creek Park and then the Greenbelt Walkway leads you along a walking path with all sorts of sights before reaching a bit of an industrial area just before reaching Portland Breakwater Light as Bug Light is officially known as.

I love seeing the ducks near Mill Creek Park:

A bride to be having her photos done:

A Celebrity Cruise ship in port.  Always love seeing the big ships!:

I don't remember seeing this anchor before but it is OLD.  Really neat to see up close how time has worn it away:

Last Outing of The Season

Friday afternoon was likely the last outing of Lou's until next spring.  Given that there are no guarantees in a next spring we take every outing seriously and appreciate every leave dropping from the sky.  Lou has gotten so thin that I broke down and took his harness in several notches.  I had been putting off doing this because it is tangible proof of how he has changed from his younger days.  He's had this harness since he was six months old.  That is still basically a kitten and yet he was much bulkier and certainly more muscular at six months than he is today.

So, we enjoy each and every outing.  The sun was shining, it was warm but not hot.  There were a ton of leaves to attend to-not to chase but to peacefully observe.
